Safeguarding at Bangor Academy and Sixth Form College is central to our school ethos and an essential element of our school community.
Safeguarding begins with the school providing top class pastoral care to create a nurturing and safe environment where pupil development and wellbeing is promoted. All staff at Bangor Academy and Sixth Form College seek to connect with our pupils and form positive relationships therefore every member of staff contributes to our high level of pastoral care. For this reason, our pupils feel happy and secure as part of our school community. Our pastoral care system means that every pupil has a Form Tutor, Head of Year and Deputy Head of Year. Members of the Senior Leadership Team support this pastoral provision at every level.
Safeguarding also includes providing care to the point of intervention in cases of child protection.
All staff understand their legal duty in safeguarding our pupils in line with child protection regulations. The Designated Teacher for Child Protection is Mr Withers. The Deputy Designated Teacher for Child Protection is Mrs J Irvine. Pupils and parents can contact them, or any member of staff, should they have a concern regarding safeguarding or child protection.

How a parent can raise a concern about safeguarding/child protection.

Think about !!!!
Being mentally and emotionally healthy means that we believe in ourselves and know our worth. We set ourselves goals that we can achieve and can find support to do this. We are aware of our emotions and what we are feeling and can understand why. We can cope with our changing emotions and we can speak about and manage our feelings. We understand what others may be feeling and know how to deal with their feelings. We also understand when to let go and not overreact. We know how to make friendships and relationships and how to cope with changes in them. We understand that everyone can be anxious, worried or sad sometimes. We know how to cope with, and bounce back from, changes or problems and can talk about them to someone we trust.
We hope you find the information and sources of support useful in the following leaflets below.
