Mr Pitts met up with Bangor Academy’s Proud Gold Duke of Edinburgh winners as they basked in the sun at the Buckingham Palace gardens for the presentation ceremony with Princess Anne last Thursday (17th May).
Mr Pitts said: ‘We had such a perfect day to celebrate these nine students’ success at the Palace. I couldn’t be more proud. It was lovely to catch up and hear how they have all been continuing to thrive since they left the Academy. Princess Anne took time to speak to each and every recipient and we also met some inspiring Duke of Edinburgh Award patrons. Our Patron was inventor of the ‘Tangle Teaser’, Shaun Pulfrey. Famous for being the Dragon’s Den’s most successful ‘reject’. This hair dresser had lots of interesting tips for success as he relayed tales of taking that T.V. rejection and turning it into a multi-million pound business.”
